Endangered Species Here Need Us Too

Why Your Support Matters

At NCMWC, we focus on a region that's often overlooked in conservation funding: the prairies, wetlands, forests, and river systems that stretch from the Midwest through the Upper South. These landscapes are home to species under real and growing pressure.

The Problem Close To Home

Habitat loss, agricultural expansion, and changing waterways have pushed many regional species toward the edge — often quietly, without the attention given to more high-profile wildlife elsewhere. Freshwater mussels, native pollinators, grassland birds, and small mammal populations across this region are declining, and the data needed to protect them is incomplete.

Some of these animals can't go back into the wild, and need a place to be safe while supporting conservation education.  We can help provide that while giving you a place to see them in person with your family.

That's the gap we exist to close.

Join Us Now

Conservation in this region has been under-resourced for too long. With your support, we can start building the research and protections that Midwest and Upper South wildlife have been missing.

Join The Mission Today

What We Do

  • On-the-ground research — field surveys, population monitoring, and habitat assessments across Midwest and Upper South ecosystems.
  • Data that drives action — sharing findings with local land managers, agencies, and conservation partners so protection decisions are based on real evidence.
  • Community-rooted work — partnering with regional landowners, universities, and volunteers who know this land best.
  • Provide a home for injured wildlife — our center will house wildlife that can not be released due to injury or illness, but may still have a quality of life as well as support community education efforts.

Why Give Now

We're a newer organization, which means two things: we don't yet have decades of results to point to, and every dollar you give right now has an outsized impact on what we're able to start.

  • Direct impact. As a small, founder-led team, your donation goes toward fieldwork and research — not layers of overhead.
  • Transparency from day one. We'll show you exactly what your support funds, with regular updates from the field.
  • You're funding the foundation. Early donors aren't just supporting a project — they're helping build the baseline research this region has never had and supporting the wildlife that need our help.

Where Your Donations Go

One month of camera trap monitoring at one location

$25

Water and soil sampling for a local wetland

$75

Supports a full day of field research and species monitoring

$150

Supports species care for one month in our facility

$500

Every contribution, at any level, directly funds research and fieldwork happening in your region.

Some species are running out of time — and so is the window to help them. Your gift funds real research, real fieldwork, and real results in the fight to protect endangered wildlife across the Midwest and Upper South. Give today to support wildlife conservation in your own backyard
