Norma Cogar Memorial Wildlife Center is dedicated to the protection, conservation, and research of wildlife in our area and how we can help them survive during these trying ecological times.
Through our efforts in wildlife conservation, we have made a difference for wildlife in the Cincinnati area since our beginning.
Our initial beginnings came from a basic idea for a wildlife rescue in 2000. Our founding may only date to 2012, our leaders have been working with wildlife since 2000. The new and current format for NCMWC began to take shape in 2019.
In 2019, we began working on the first plans for a Animal Center which was to house both local and exotic animals, as well as house a pet adoption center. During these planning years, we found that our passion was more geared towards our local wildlife. With that, we began to build a new format for our work and mission. Our current format and mission were officially launched in 2020 during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Since then, we have been involved in over 100 conservation projects and studies. We have also helped hundreds of wild animals get the rehabilitation they needed through helping finders find the right rehabber to talk to.
October 30, 2024 we were officially declared a 501(c)3 Non Profit.
*Norma Cogar Memorial Wildlife Center is not a permitted wildlife rehabilitator. We help find the right permit holder for each situation.
Norma Cogar lived in West Virginia and was our founder's maternal grandmother. She always loved his desire to make a difference for animals and give people an opportunity to enjoy what the world has given us. She supported his passion and encouraged him to work towards making his dreams a reality and help wildlife.
Her support and love helped him decide that in her honor that we would be called the Norma Cogar Memorial Wildlife Center.
Mrs. Cogar passed away in late 2010. Today, our founder still remembers her support and passion, which helps guide him every day.
Other sections of our Wildlife Center will have other memorials, such as the Anthony Beckham Memorial Aquatic Animal Center.
