Wildlife is in Your Own BackYard!

You may not always look out back and see wildlife, but they thrive in backyards accross the world!  Here we want to share your stories and images as well as talk about the wildlife commonly found in yards in our area!

Common Animals Seen During The Summer

Baltimore Oriole

Long-tailed Weasel

Long-tailed Weasel

This species is considered a fairly common summer resident in open woods with elms and other large shade trees. The musical song is a series of loud, clear, flute-like whistles. No two orioles are said to have the same song. The oriole typically feeds on caterpillars and other insects, some small fruits, and nectar.

Long-tailed Weasel

Long-tailed Weasel

This weasel is very adaptable and can be found in all land habitats near water. Like most weasels, it is chiefly nocturnal, but can also be active by day. They can climb trees and swim, but most of their time is spent on the ground. They typically eat rodents, rabbits and birds, but in the summer they may also eat fruits and berries.

American Bullfrog

Send Us Your Suggestions!

Except during breeding season, when they go through an aggressive, loud, splashing courtship, bullfrogs are solitary and territorial. Warm, still, shallow waters are preferred as habitat. Typical foods include crayfish, insects, mice, and other frogs.
