Flying Feathers is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and adopting domestic parrots in need of a home. Many domestic species are considered Threatened or Endangered in the wild, and a major part of protecting them is by helping people understand how to be better bird parents and stewards!
See one of our oldest and most important rescues causing havoc! Yellow Naped Amazons are critically endangered in the wild due to habitat loss, environmental changes, and human encroachment/capture. Our working partnership with NCMWC helps protect wildlife while still giving domestically raised birds, like this one, a good home.

The largest single concern for parrots outside of habitat destruction is illegal trapping for the pet industry. We are dedicated to helping visitors and supporters understand how to ensure the pet you bring to your home is hatched and raised in captivity.
We always recommend rescuing/adopting vs purchasing in stores or from breeders.
Some of the parrots in our care may be able to support wild population restoration efforts. By teaming up the right bird with the right group, we can help to give parrots the chance to thrive in the wild for future generations!
